Common Scotsman problems we fix

No ice or very slow production

Check water supply, filters and the condenser first. From there we test the water valve, pump, harvest and refrigeration to find exactly where production stops.

Soft, wet or undersized ice

On cubers it is usually scale or water flow; on nugget and flake machines it is often wear in the ice-making assembly or scale on the evaporator. We diagnose by ice type.

Cloudy ice and mineral scale

Hard or high-TDS water clouds the ice and coats the evaporator. A descale and filtration sized to your water test fixes it — and keeps it from coming back.

Water on the floor

Blocked drains, a cracked trough, a loose fitting or a valve that will not close. We find and fix the leak, then check the drain slope so it stays fixed.

Indicator or diagnostic light on

Scotsman controls flag problems for a reason. We read the indication, confirm it with measurements and replace only the component that actually failed.

Bin overfills or stops too soon

A dirty or failed bin control is the usual cause. We clean or replace it and confirm the machine stops and restarts at the right level.

Scotsman cleaning & sanitation

Scotsman, like Hoshizaki, Manitowoc and Follett, requires a full cleaning and sanitation at least every six months to keep the warranty valid. We clean every ice-contact surface with an NSF-listed sanitizer and leave dated paperwork for inspectors.
